Agia Pelagia (Santa Pelagia) is located 21km west of Heraklion, on the south side of the ancient Cape Dion, surrounded by several coves with beautiful beaches.
• Fylakes are two tiny coves with fine sand and greenish water, sheltered by the tall rocks of Cape Souda. The purity of the waters and the beauty of nature make Fylakes one of the most amazing places on the coast of Heraklion. The beaches are so narrow that when the sea gets wavy, they disappear. In order to access Fylakes you have to take a boat.
• Mononaftis is a beautiful pebbly beach, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula of Agia Pelagia and is sheltered from the (common) north winds, since it faces to the east.
• Psaromoura faces to the east and is sheltered from the northwest winds usually blowing in the area. The beach is pebbly and is very popular to locals, rather than tourists. On the north end there is a large rock which protects the beach from the waves.
